Stephanie Laing.

Stephanie Laing is a Comedian turned Community Organiser turned Comedian again. When she first became a community organiser, she assumed that she would have to leave “comedian Stephanie” at the door, but in fact discovered that having a sense of humour was a powerful tool in the fight to make real change on social justice issues. Her talks discusses the value in finding what’s ridiculous in the structures we challenge, and the need for joy to make movements sustainable and avoid burnout.  Sharing stories from her career as a community organiser and comedian, she hopes to show that we don’t have to sacrifice our happiness in order to make the world a better place.

Stephanie has years of experience in working with organisations to improve their internal culture.  She has a Masters Degree in Community Organising from Queen Mary University, and ran the Milton Keynes branch of the charity Citizens UK for 3 years.  Citizens UK works to strengthen civil society organisations, and develop local leaders to engage more meaningfully in democracy. Stephanie is available for keynote speaking on social justice and community organising, and bespoke teambuilding activities.
